I believe babies are beautiful just as they are, and I don’t pose them in baskets or provide props. Instead, my lifestyle newborn sessions focus on capturing the emotions, relationships, and details of the tiny newborn along with their parent(s) and any older siblings.

I know from firsthand experience as a mom of two that these early days are a precious and tender time, and I am honored every time I am invited into a family’s home to capture it.

My newborn images often include parents snuggling their babies, tiny baby fingers and toes, big siblings getting close to their tiny siblings, and babies getting fed.

PHOTOGRAPHY

Your first days as a parent to this little baby pass as an exhausted blur – but in the best possible way. Someday all too soon, your baby will be grown, the sleepless nights will be a distant memory, and you'll look back and marvel that they were ever so tiny.

There is nothing like falling in love with your child for the first time

“OMG I'm gonna cry! Thank you so much, this is BEAUTIFUL!”

“I really wanted something casual, natural and family oriented. Laura allowed us to just spend time together as a family and caught beautiful images of us we can cherish forever. We never felt rushed. Thank you, Laura. We couldn’t be happier with our photos!!!”

Kind Words

My in-home newborn sessions are baby-led, meaning that we do whatever the baby needs. Any time that the baby needs to eat, be soothed, be changed, or anything else, we will stop whatever we are doing and attend to their needs.

Sometimes I will take the opportunity to capture these sweet unplanned moments; sometimes I will put my camera down and give everyone a break. But either way, we will go at the baby’s pace.

FAQ

My sessions capture genuine, emotive images of each family. Connection, love, laughter, joy – that's always my focus. I will prompt you and direct you and move you into the light. But always while making it look natural. Beautiful tiny babies all snuggled up, getting loved on by their family, that's what I capture.

If you are looking for a posed newborn session including poses like the frog pose or the taco pose with props and baskets, that is not what I do. There are other photographers who do an amazing job with these types of portraits. My style is to make everything look natural and effortless (even though, again, I will be directing you the whole time for the most beautiful and flattering images).

How do I book a lifestyle newborn session?

If you already know you want to book your newborn session, click here to book directly. If you have questions, click here to ask me. Once you're ready, I need a signed contract and $300 non-refundable retainer to hold your date. The remaining balance is due three weeks before your session.

Petite maternity sessions are half-price if booked with a newborn session. These sessions now only give you the chance to capture your pregnancy, but they also give us all a chance to get to know each other before the tender postpartum time.

Due to the unpredictable nature of childbirth, all newborn scheduling is tentative until the baby arrives. Please choose the date on my calendar closest to your due date. We will adjust once the baby is born. I only take a limited number of newborns each month.

After you've booked, I will send you a questionnaire. Please fill it out before your baby is born, if possible. This is what allows me to prepare the personalized prompts for your session (which is particularly important at a newborn session with older siblings).

When is it best to schedule a newborn session?

Newborn sessions are typically scheduled when the baby is between 7-21 days old, but I can schedule outside of this window if necessary. It's never too late to capture your baby!

What if I need to reschedule?

If someone in your family gets sick or you have another emergency, please reach out to me and we can discuss what makes the most sense. I go out of my way to do anything I can to accommodate my newborn families if they need to reschedule (while also remembering that the newborn window is relatively short and we don't want to miss it).

How long until my images are ready?

Your images will be ready within two weeks, unless more extensive retouching is involved.

How much image editing is involved?

I do light editing on every single image to ensure that you and your loved ones look as wonderful in your final images as you do in person. This includes ensuring that the colors and tones are beautiful in each image. Upon request, I will also remove any minor, temporary imperfections, such as a small scratch or a random pimple.

If there is a specific situation requiring more extensive editing – such as a request for a head swap – I am happy to provide that service for an additional charge.

Will you post my images?

Only if you want me to! Many clients love having their sessions featured on my website, blog or social media. That said, if you don't want me to share, I will always respect that. The choice is yours.

What if I want prints or other products?

When you receive your gallery, you will also receive a link to my online store, where I offer beautiful products to help you display your memories.
